Saving My Sister
On June 13, 2019, I received “the call.” The call all families of addicts fear they will one day receive. My sister, Amanda, overdosed and this time, she did not survive. Our lives were forever changed that day as we will forever mourn the loss of my sister and always wonder where did things go wrong. We still have so many unanswered questions that we will never know the answers to.
One thing I was certain of, however, was that I needed to find a way to make a difference with Amanda’s story. To find meaning and purpose in her life that was plagued by hardship and addiction. That’s when I knew I needed to write a book. I needed to do it for her, for me, and for everyone else who is impacted one way or another by the horrible disease of addiction. Saving My Sister, a memoir of my journey navigating my sister’s addiction from her very first overdose to her last, will be released in early 2022.
