WHAT IS GRASTON TECHNIQUE?
Graston Technique® (GT) is a unique, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively and efficiently address soft tissue lesions and fascial restrictions resulting in improved patient outcomes. GT uses specially designed stainless steel instruments with unique treatment edges and angles to deliver an effective means of manual therapy. The use of GT instruments, when combined with appropriate therapeutic exercise, leads to the restoration of pain-free movement and function.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL GRASTON TECHNIQUE SESSION LOOK LIKE?
Your first session will be an evaluation, which will allow us to get to know each other and include a thorough assessment of your medical history and symptoms. This visit will also include a short Graston Technique (GT) evaluation and treatment, followed by therapeutic exercise and cryotherapy, if appropriate. We will conclude this visit by establishing a treatment plan and goals that work best for you.
Subsequent Graston Technique visits will always start with a mini assessment of current symptoms, followed by warm-up exercises/stretching, hands on GT treatment, strengthening exercises, and cryotherapy, if appropriate.
WHAT CONDITIONS DO YOU TREAT USING GRASTON TECHNIQUE?
Graston Technique® can be used to treat any movement system dysfunction that has been determined to have a soft tissue component. Being an OT, I specialize in the upper body, but can treat a variety of conditions, including:
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (wrist pain)
- Cervicothoracic Sprain/Strain (neck pain)
- Fibromyalgia
- Lateral Epicondylitis/osis (tennis elbow)
- Lumbosacral Sprain/Strain (back pain)
- Medial Epicondylitis/osis (golfer’s elbow)
- Myofascial Pain Syndromes
- Plantar Fasciitis/osis (foot pain)
- Rotator Cuff Tendinitis/osis (shoulder pain)
- Scar Tissue/post-surgical scars (once completely closed)
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER CLINICIANS?
I am able to relate to my patients first hand, as I also experience chronic pain. I know how Graston Technique and yoga have helped manage me my symptoms and allow me to live a relatively pain free life. With my background as an OT, I use a holistic approach and consider all aspects of your life- not just your symptoms- when putting together your treatment plan.
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
I accept both PayPal and Venmo for all treatments. I do not work with insurance at this time.
